Mary Edwards, RN
Founder of Nurse Ed
Mary Edwards, RN iis a healthcare professional with experience in critical care and trauma nursing, as well as healthcare finance, including Utilization Management (UM), Prior Authorization (PA), and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA). Her experience has given her expertise in understanding how clinical information, documentation, policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements intersect in real-world healthcare decision-making and how those decisions impact the financial bottom line and patient safety.
Building on this experience, Mary developed Nurse Ed to help nurses recognize and apply the skills needed for emerging opportunities in healthcare artificial intelligence. The program prepares nurses to use their clinical expertise in:
• AI Annotation & Model Evaluation
• Quality Review & Healthcare AI Auditing
• AI Forensic Fraud Auditing
Mary's approach is grounded in the understanding that clinical knowledge alone is not enough. Nurses working with healthcare AI must also be able to evaluate information objectively, follow defined criteria, identify unsupported conclusions, compare AI output against source information, and apply the rules governing a review task.
The Nurse Ed. Program is intended to give nurses the technical keys to run healthcare tech that provides them with the operational authority and market dominance that enables them to have power in the process and not be a slave to the result, because the work of healthcare will go on with or without them.
"If a nurse does not know how to audit the AI output against the original source data, they are not auditing; they are just proofreading."
